Julia C.R.Dorr
The volume opens with an appreciation by James J. Cullina, of the poet and novelist Julia Caroline Ripley Dorr (1825-1913) who spent her most productive years primarilyin Vermont.
This is followed by a thoughtful article by Paul A. Eshholz tracing the close friendship of Ms. Dorr and Ronald Evans Robinson (1833-1900), also a well known author of the
times, despite the divergent focus in their respective works.
Two additional articles, “Julia the Traveller” by Betty Bandel, and “Understoood Julia” by Ellen Cronan Rose, complete this fascinating history of two of Vermont’s past literary figures.
A brief book review of “The Literature of Vermont, A Sampler” concludes this issue.
